Leeds is a wonderful, vibrant city that really does offer something for everyone. Leeds can offer fun, exciting, cosmopolitan city living, with an amazing and varied night scene, but by the same token, the beautiful and stunning landscape of the Yorkshire countryside is only a stone’s throw away. Leeds has a rich social and cultural history and the modern vibrant city that we have today can be traced back to the woollen industries. These days Leeds is the main centre for the legal and financial industries outside of London and there are a number of household names with offices in the city.
Leeds has some fantastic culture, with the Henry Moore museum, the Leeds city museum, the Royal Armouries, The Leeds Art Gallery and a number of stately homes.
Recently Leeds has become a mecca for those who are looking to shop until they drop. All of the usual high street names can be found in the city centre, but there are also a number of world class shops that populate the bustling city centre, these include, Harvey Nichols, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Vivenne Westwood and Mulberry. The recently opened Trinity centre is a triumph, with some fantastic shops, sitting side by side with cool bars, restaurants and the ultra chic Everyman cinema, all set in a beautiful, light, vibrant, state of the art centre. The new Victoria Gate centre will open in 2016, at a cost of £650m, to further enhance the Leeds shopping experience, which will host yet more top quality names including John Lewis.
Leeds is at the forefront of top class entertainment, with the new state of the art 13000 seater arena, playing host to a wide range of events and top quality concerts. The Leeds festival is now an established event on the festival scene and is attended by over 80000 revellers. Leeds is also well catered for top class sport, with the multi championship winning Leeds Rhinos, the Leeds Carnegie Rugby union team, Yorkshire Cricket and Leeds United.
